Drywall that disappears into the wall.
Orange peel, knockdown, or skip-trowel — we match the texture already on your wall and blend the patch in so you can't find it. No callouts to a drywall sub, no seams, no ghost lines. Backed by a 2-year written warranty.
Texture matching is half skill, half patience.
Most painters won't touch a drywall patch beyond a quick smear of mud and a prayer. The reason is simple: texture matching is genuinely hard. Get the mud thickness wrong, hold the spray gun at the wrong angle, or knock down the splatter two seconds too early and the patch reads as a patch forever. It's why most painting crews in Colorado Springs either skip it and outsource to a drywall sub, or charge you to re-texture the whole wall so nothing has to match.
Jonathan learned texture matching the way you have to learn it — on real walls, in real homes, for years before it became second nature. The trick is less about tools and more about reading the existing surface first. We photograph the wall, pull a small reference sample if it's hand-applied, dial in spray pressure and nozzle size for orange peel, and test on a scrap piece of drywall before we touch the actual wall. It's the step most crews skip, and it's why our patches disappear.
The three textures we see in Colorado Springs homes each behave differently. Orange peel is a spray-only finish — you cannot hand-apply it and fake it. Knockdown is sprayed and then flattened with a wide knife at a specific drying window, usually 8 to 15 minutes after spraying, depending on humidity and altitude. Skip-trowel is the old-school custom-home finish, entirely hand-applied with a trowel, and the hardest to match because no two crews have the same hand. We do all three.

The three textures behind almost every Colorado Springs wall.
Orange Peel
The most common finish on new-build Colorado Springs homes — subtle, uniform spray-applied texture that reads like the surface of an orange. Spray gun only; cannot be hand-faked. We match by dialing nozzle size, pressure, and distance against your existing wall, then testing on scrap drywall before touching the patch. Most patches same-day.
Knockdown
The dominant finish on Colorado Springs homes built from the 1970s through the 90s — sprayed splatter, then flattened with a wide blade at a specific drying window. The window is tight: too early and you smear it, too late and it won't flatten. We watch the patch, read humidity and altitude against our spray, and hit the timing.
Skip-Trowel & Hand-Applied
Custom-home finish, entirely hand-applied with a trowel. Hardest texture to match because every crew's trowel stroke and mud thickness reads differently. We pull a reference sample first, match the stroke direction, and work in smaller sections than most crews would — it takes longer, which is why most painters won't touch it. We will.
Jonathan patched a hole in our wall after a remodel — we genuinely can't find where the patch is. Other painters quoted us to re-texture the whole room.
What homeowners ask us before the patch.
Can you match my existing drywall texture?
Yes. We match the three textures that cover almost every home in Colorado Springs: orange peel, knockdown, and skip-trowel. Before we patch anything, we photograph the existing wall, dial spray pressure and nozzle size for orange peel, or pull a reference sample for hand-applied finishes. We test on a scrap piece of drywall before touching the actual wall. The patch disappears into the wall — not just gets close.
Do I need to repaint the whole wall?
Usually just the patched area plus a feathered blend — not the whole wall. If the existing paint is recent and we have the color code, we can often blend in without a full wall repaint. If the paint is several years old and has faded or shifted, we'll recommend painting corner-to-corner so there's no visible ghost line. We'll call it on-site, honestly — no upsell to re-paint a room that doesn't need it.
How long does a drywall repair take?
Small patches can be same-day — patch, texture, and light touch-up paint before we leave. Anything bigger is typically a 2-day job: patch and texture on day one, 48-hour cure for the texture, then paint on day two or three. Full ceiling re-texturing or popcorn-ceiling removal runs longer depending on the room size.
Do you fix ceiling texture?
Yes — we handle ceiling patch repair, ceiling texture matching, and popcorn-ceiling removal with re-texturing. Popcorn removal is a messy, multi-step job (scrape, skim, sand, re-texture, paint) and we price it room by room. If you're trying to match an existing ceiling after a leak repair or a light-fixture relocation, we'll bring the original texture back in. Call (719) 413-7933 and we'll come look.
